Biography

Marthe Alycia, born Marthe Juliette Rosette in 1903 in Buenos Aires, grew up between two cultures before moving to France, where she would build the core of her artistic career. An actress with a discreet temperament but remarkable discipline, she gradually established herself on the Parisian stage and eventually joined the Comédie‑Française in 1958. For twelve years, she performed a wide range of roles there, from the classical repertoire to contemporary works, earning a reputation as a solid, precise, and deeply dedicated performer. Alongside her theatrical career, Marthe Alycia appeared in films and on television, notably in Jacques Feyder’s La Loi du nord and in the adaptation of Twenty‑Four Hours in the Life of a Woman. She also took part in several televised stage recordings and productions, including Au théâtre ce soir, which helped introduce her work to a broader audience. Married to fellow actor Henri Guisol, she formed with him a couple that was highly present in the artistic landscape of the time.
